 A Message from our Founder:

When I was growing up my first experience with money was watching my parents fight over it. As I got older, I realized that money is the white elephant in the living room, everyone has one but nobody will talk about it. On my own, I was forced to learn about money, while drawing on my own painful beliefs from childhood.  

When I went off to college I did what all good American college students do, I got a credit card and proceeded to spend more than I made. I believe they call that supplementing your income. I thought I was doing what you were supposed to do, build your credit history by using credit. I worked hard and got a good job that paid the bills. In my mind I was doing well, and this was the purpose of life. You grow up to get a good corporate job, get married and pay the bills, and your parents will be PROUD.

As time went on this became difficult to balance, the bills started to get bigger than the paycheck. I felt strapped to my job, unable to leave because I couldn’t afford to go some where else. My stress level got to be so high, my hair literally fell out!  I was devastated, trapped with no where to go.

The tipping point for me was when I needed $200 in order to pay my rent. I had no way to get the money. I went in to a check cashing place to get a payday loan. My lifestyle had been kept afloat by cash advances from my credit cards, which I now had MAXED OUT. I was paying 58% interest and barely made minimum payments. The payday loan office DENIED me for the $200, because from my bank statement they could see I did not have the means to pay them back.

Here I was, a successful Banker, #1 in my company, making a decent salary, denied for a payday loan.  At that moment I decided I would not live this way! I had a stressful job that what draining me of my life blood, thousands of dollars in credit card and consumer debt and no money in the bank.

My focus changed from being a good consumer, riddled with debt, to becoming an investor abundant with assets, though I did not know how I would do this. A few years later still with several thousand dollars in debt I was hired to work for an Investor and Multi Millionaire. This experience changed my life in more ways than one. He was eccentric to say the least, but I also noticed some thing very important. His relationship with MONEY was completely different than mine, like night and day! I started to learn and modeling the way he thought about and dealt with money.

An amazing thing happen, my debt started to go away. Little by little I was paying off my credit cards. I was living like a millionaire, building assets that I own, instead of my assets owning me. I received a master education in wealth management. Combined with the knowledge I already had from working in the banking industry, I had a created new relationship with money. Yet I felt empty inside, I realized I was spiritually bankrupt.

I left my successful job at the investment firm, seeking a new path. The spiritual work I did lead me down a different road, surfacing the painful beliefs that I had started with. I worked on creating true spiritual abundance and prosperity. As I moved along I came to realized I was moving towards my true calling. All of a sudden my life’s purpose was starring me in the face, my heart swelled, and I realized NOW I feel wealthy! By no means is my journey complete, the path has just begun. My focus became understanding my purpose, while doing some exploration. What I realized was that I wanted to help people transform their lives, financially.

I discovered that people believed that there were two paths, the spiritual path and the material path. There was conception that if you were spiritually conscious, then you could not have a financial conscious. This was interesting and the opportunity to challenge this belief intrigued me.  My mission became exploration of bridging these two worlds. Becoming an enlightened investor, spending money with the greater good as my motivation, these are things that are conscious ways to live in the spiritual and monetary world.

This is when I realized the power of good that would exist when these two worlds collided. I began to meet others who felt that if they were awake spiritually then they had to be asleep when it came to money. Working with these clients lead me to an amazing realization, these worlds could join together. You can be a socially responsible investor, wealthy in all areas of life, spiritually and financially balanced.

So I set out to build my company, Sustainable Financial, to inspire people to create a balanced life, spiritually conscious and financially grounded. I began teaching workshops to give people the basic tools to understand money. Using my knowledge of finance, clients work with me one on one to transfer these tools into their business and life. With my background in business management and financial planning I am able to help my clients create systems in their lives that support both their values and their goals around money.  I am blessed to be able to work with spiritually grounded, creatively successful entrepreneurs and women who are ready to create a financially balanced life.
